I forgot to mention I have been a biomedical electronics engineer for the past 14 year's. I have intimate knowledge repairing , calibrating, and certifying various types of medical devices that utilize similar internal components.

Original review posted by user Jul 15, 2018

I had false positives when i was on it. When I tested positive i blew 1t minutes later and blew a 0.00.

Then I immediately submitted another text and lone behold positive. Tested neg 15 minutes later. I must have taken 20 tests that night. My attorney was pissed at 1st.

Until soberlink sent me the letter saying that it wasn't alcohol related. I had had enough of the bs so I took a chance and proved the machine was crap. After I questioned their engineer about the inner workings of their machine hey then dropped me citing tampering as a sort of payback for poking holes in their faulty device. I testified in court to the judge explaining my expertise on the internal electronics and how they required calibration more frequently than what is required by soberlink and thus lead to the false positives.

Olposi g council stated its an FDA approved device and refrenced Soberlinks reason for my dismissal. Tampering. Their "proprietary breath algorithm" flagged me. Immediately, within a day or two of me complaining to their engineers.

I told the judge its medical device classification is equal to that of a hospital grade *** pan and no where in the FDA trials (I read them all) was this breath algorithm mentioned, tested, or verified. She threw out all of Soberlink evidence and I was done with that POS. I jelly the machine and will be opening it up to verify that the individual internal components calibration requirements coincides with their calibration frequency claims.

Contact me @ Jason3000vr4@***.com. I would love to sue for damages

Reason of review: Bad quality.

I get false positives about once a week. Sometimes I have to follow up with a ETG.

My ex is 'keeping track' so he can restrict parenting time.

It really is awful in that I am the better parent but this evice is really screwing up my life. I even did a hair follicle test and that came back negative.

I just recently had an incident of a false positive, and my ex husband came and took my girls. I had not had anything to drink.

After doing research, I discovered that it was my energy drink I had consumed that morning. I have my next court date in two weeks, which my ex will most likely use that false positive against me. Would anyone be willing to share with me if they have used evidence in their own court cases? Possibly court case numbers?

I was hoping to use these as exhibits in court to prove the inaccuracy of the device.

If you are willing, please email me at akrull1984@***.com. I know some of you feel my pain as I'm fighting for my children, so any help is appreciated!

I just had this same thing happen and Iโ€™m going through same situation. Did anyone email you?

Has anyone paid the $50 for an official review? Mine came up as a false positive of .008.

15 minutes later it said .006. The next one was zero. I have an ETG urine the next day which is negative. My attorney suggested getting an official review from Soberlink.

However, Iโ€™m afraid it will simply state it detected alcohol which will not help and all results get sent to both parties meaning my ex. Has anyone had them review it and it stated it wasnโ€™t alcohol related??

I am required to use this unit by the court ! I have had nothing but issues with the machine since the day I picked it up !

I have to blow into it several times before it accepts the test. The first time it showed (retest required) I was completely confused as I hadnโ€™t consumed anything that had alcohol in it. The first reading was a .008 then after 15 minutes it was a .006 after another 15 minutes it was all .000 . The real problem starts now !

This type of false positive is going to put me directly in jail ! The court deems the machine to be 100 % accurate. I cannot express how much I am going to suffer or lose because of this machines inaccuracy. I know Iโ€™m not alone after reading these posts I just wonder how can we stop this from happening again and again ?

I now live in fear everyday because of this and it has already happened another three times since. Please help as I might still be incarcerated over it !

My roommate has had a terrible time. One time her reading was over the limit just after eating Mexican food containing nothing that could possibly construed as alcohol.

Another time she had been loading PURE essential oils into the diffuser and had just applied chapstick, bad reading, also no alcohol involved in any of those products. Now, she doesn't dare eat or drink anything (even perfectly acceptable items!) before the tests because of how often it registers a false positive! or apply make up as that can also register a false positive. Another time she had been chewing gum, BINGO, false positive, no alcohol involved.

Yet another time she had brushed her teeth about 5 minutes or so before, JACKPOT! false positive, no alcohol involved this time, either. And do you know that the process is to have it 'recalibrated'? you send it in and "a few of the guys go over the readings and decide IF there's a problem or not" they don't even look at the machine and they also charge you $75.00 for your trouble AND the penalty besides the fee, much worse!

is that you go without seeing your kids for the entire time it takes to send it in for the mislabeled recalibration, wait for them to do something completely unprofessional and useless ie "discuss the readings" (why not just use a dart board after drinking themselves?) to determine if the machine is working properly and NEVER TOUCH THE MACHINE OR EXAMINE IT! So that could take 2-3 weeks!

Wow, makes you wonder who paid who for the contract, doesn't it? THIS MANY PEOPLE WOULD NOT BE COMPLAINING IF IT WORKED, DON'T YOU THINK?

Three times The meter has shown not compliant, I have not had alcohol in my system and the company does not care and will not change their reading. Today is Thanksgiving, I took the test, it showed the numbers were up and I had not used hand sanitizer, kombucha T or of course any alcohol!

The mental distress and physical this is caused me I want to make a class action suit against sober link! Anyone interested in doing this with me please email!

My daughter just started using soberlink and received multiple false positives which were reported to her ex husband and has not yet been retracted. It is dangerous to make life changing decisions based on this device.

I am in the same boat you were in with a false accusation made by my soon to be ex-wife. I have never had a DUI/DWI or any alcohol related offense.

The judge issued a temporary court order saying i have to use this sober link thing. I have to go back to court next week to discuss this with the judge. Would you please send me your documentation and what you used in court.

I would be eternally grateful. My email address is miwebb76@***.com.

I know many of us are in this same horrific and seemingly targeted situation. Would you mind forwarding me the information? We need to look out for each other and I appreciate any and all help.

My current assesment involves the disassembled the devices components and how the individual manufacturers claims, data and reccomendations contradict that of Soberlink's and could affect the reliability of the device. I will be publishing an indepth analysis of the FDA trials, the mfgr recommendations and specs of their components, and Soberlinks claims.

I will make available all the supporting documentation my findings are based on, pictures of the components and the mfgrs contact information. I just scratched the surface tearing into this device today and already found inconsistencies, and margins for error with this device.

I am on Soberlink twice a day and every now and then I blow between .02 - .03. As my ex gets these notifications and thinks I am drinking I immediately get a UA within 12 hours and its alway NEGATIVE.

Going to court Tuesday as he is going to accuse me of still drinking. Help!

I have no dui or dwi or no criminal record. The machine was issuesdue to false accusations during a custody battle.

For every positive the faulty machine gave I immediately had a drug test performed to contradict the findings. A drug test that would detect alcohol consumption for up to a week.

You hateful people must work for Soberlink. Youre machine is garbage and youre ruining honest peoples lives with the false claims of how reliable this device is.

I agree

Guest

These people must work for Soberlink. These comments are rediculous unfounded attacks.

The accusations are based on incinuations. My findings are based on facts.

After the facts, even the judge deemed the device unreliable. Keep trolling.

Mr. Genius 14 year biomedical electronics engineer, never form a plural with an apostrophe.

QUOTE : " year's " . Neither is a year entitled to apostrophe indicating possession as it is an inanimate object not entitled to legal rights of any sort.

Since you'd like to sue for damages, you'd better decide just exactly how you were damaged and the financial impact of same. There is something major missing from this story in addition to the strange odor of alcohol emanating from the screen as I read the post ...
